Senegal have parted ways with head coach Pape Thiaw following the team’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The decision was made after the Teranga Lions were knocked out in the Round of 32 following a 3-2 defeat against Belgium, ending their hopes of making a deeper run at the tournament.
Thiaw took charge of the national team after the departure of Aliou Cissé and managed to guide Senegal into the knockout stage of the World Cup. However, the federation has decided to make a coaching change as it looks to move forward following the disappointing exit.
The Senegalese Football Federation is yet to confirm who will take over from Thiaw, with further announcements expected as the country begins preparations for upcoming international assignments.
The change marks another turning point for Senegal, who have established themselves as one of Africa’s strongest football nations in recent years and will now begin the search for a new leader to continue their progress on the international stage.
