“We Will Display a Different Ball Game” – Nkwazi’s Tembo Warns Rivals
Nkwazi head coach Masauso Tembo says the club is ready to produce a stronger campaign in the 2026 Transitional League after completing a productive pre-season camp on the Copperbelt.
The police side recently wrapped up a 10-day training camp as they intensified preparations for the upcoming season. During their stay on the Copperbelt, Nkwazi played six friendly matches, recording two victories, three draws and one defeat.
Tembo believes the camp was particularly important for helping the club’s new recruits adapt to the existing squad while allowing the technical team to assess the team’s overall readiness.
“This has been a good outing for us, and it also gave an opportunity for the new players to jell with the old players,” he said.
Nkwazi Target Stronger Campaign
After previously finding themselves involved in relegation battles, Tembo says Nkwazi are determined to approach the new campaign with greater ambition.
“We are looking forward to displaying a different ball game in the upcoming season. This time around we don’t want to fight relegation; we will fight to ensure we compete and finish strong,” he added.
The coach is also encouraged by the performances of the club’s new signings, with Nkwazi placing particular emphasis on recruiting young players as part of their squad-building strategy.
“Our number one objective was to bring in young players in the team; so far so good, we just need to encourage and motivate them,” Tembo noted.
Tembo Calls for Hard Work
With the Transitional League set to be played over a shorter period, Tembo acknowledges that maintaining consistency will be crucial.
“It’s not going to be easy, it’s a very short league that is coming up, but we just need to work extra hard so that we put up a brilliant performance,” he said.
Nkwazi have been placed in Stream B of the 2026 Transitional League, which is scheduled to run from September to December.
The club will now look to translate the progress made during their Copperbelt camp into competitive performances when the season gets underway.
