Power Dynamos have extended head coach Osward Mutapa’s contract until 2029 after a remarkable spell that has seen the club dominate domestic football and make significant strides on the continental stage.
The long-term extension comes as a reward for Mutapa’s impressive achievements since taking charge of the Kitwe-based club.
Under his leadership, Power Dynamos have won back-to-back MTN Super League titles, lifting the championship in both the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.
Mutapa also guided Aba Yellow to the group stage of the CAF Champions League and led the club to the ABSA Cup final, further cementing his reputation as one of Zambia’s top coaches.
The club’s hierarchy believes those accomplishments have laid a strong foundation for sustained success, prompting them to hand the coach a new deal running until 2029.
Power Dynamos president Benny Simukoko expressed confidence that Mutapa is the ideal person to lead the club into the future.
“We have goals as a club, and we believe Coach Mutapa is the man to help us achieve these goals,” Simukoko told the club’s media.
Mutapa welcomed the vote of confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to helping the club build on its recent success.
“I am honoured to extend my stay at this great club until 2029. We have achieved a lot together, but there is still more to do,” Mutapa said.
“Our target is to sustain our success, compete strongly on the continent and bring more trophies to our fans.”
The contract extension provides Power Dynamos with stability ahead of the new season as they seek to defend their domestic crown while making an even bigger impact in CAF inter-club competitions.
