EXCLUSIVE: Zambia’s Mwanza, Yobe Set to Join Nyasa Big Bullets
The experienced Zambian duo are expected in Malawi this week after agreeing terms with the defending champions, with their appointments coming at the recommendation of head coach Wedson Nyirenda.
Zambian coaches Lemekani Mwanza and Donewell Yobe are set to make the move to Malawi, where they will join reigning champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, BolaNews can exclusively reveal.
Sources have disclosed that the two have already agreed terms with the Malawian giants and are expected to travel to Malawi this week to begin their new assignments.
Their arrival is understood to be part of head coach Wedson Nyirenda’s plans to strengthen his technical team as he prepares to rebuild the squad and maintain the club’s dominance.
Mwanza to Work as Performance Analyst
Mwanza is expected to take up the role of performance analyst, bringing valuable experience from both domestic and international football.
He played an important role in Power Dynamos’ successful campaign, helping the Kitwe club secure a second consecutive Zambia Super League title.
Mwanza has also been working with the Copper Queens as a performance analyst since last year, giving him additional experience at international level.
Yobe Set for Coaching Role
Meanwhile, former Zambia international striker Donewell Yobe is expected to join the Bullets technical bench as fitness and strikers coach.
Yobe has experience both as a player and coach, having represented Zambia and played in Finland before transitioning into coaching.
He previously worked as an assistant coach at Zanaco, where he gained further experience in the technical department.
A source explained that the two were initially expected to travel to Malawi earlier, but their involvement with the Zambia women’s national team during the WAFCON campaign in Morocco delayed their departure.
“The two have already agreed terms with Bullets. They were expected to be in Malawi as of last month, but they were part of the Zambia ladies team in Morocco for WAFCON games,” the source said.
“So, they will leave Zambia this week for Malawi. Bullets did this on the recommendation of the head coach [Nyirenda]. They are experienced coaches and will surely help the coach in rebuilding Bullets.”
The appointments would give Nyirenda additional expertise in performance analysis, player fitness and attacking development as Nyasa Big Bullets prepare for another demanding campaign.
Mwanza and Yobe’s move also continues the growing involvement of Zambian football professionals in technical roles across the region.
