Red Arrows have completed the signing of promising striker Eliya Mandanji after beating Zanaco to his signature, with the club backing the teenager to strengthen their attack ahead of the new MTN Super League season.
Mandanji, who spent last season on loan at Zanaco, emerged as the club’s leading scorer after netting 10 league goals before departing for trials with Danish top-flight side FC Midtjylland.
Although he recently attended Zanaco’s end-of-season awards ceremony following his return to Zambia, the highly-rated forward has now opted to begin the next chapter of his career with the Airmen.
Red Arrows confirmed the signing on Monday, describing Mandanji as an exciting addition to head coach Chisi Mbewe’s squad.
In a statement, the club praised the youngster’s qualities and expressed confidence that he will enhance their attacking options.
“He brings attacking energy, intelligent movement and a strong desire to make his mark. His eye for goal and ability to stretch defences while creating scoring opportunities will add more firepower to our attack,” the club said.
The Airmen believe Mandanji is one of the players to watch in the upcoming campaign as they look to challenge for domestic honours.
The striker becomes one of five new arrivals at Red Arrows ahead of the new season as the club continues to strengthen its squad.
Among the other recruits are defender Owen Mwamba from Mufulira Wanderers, winger Munda Phiri and midfielder Amon Chulu, as the Airmen build a team capable of competing for the MTN Super League title.
